The Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety provides the candidate with a broad knowledge in Occupational Health and Safety concepts and practices with sufficient detail to enable the graduate to advise on the management of problems and issues.
This course will provide candidates with a professional qualification enabling the graduate to fulfil the role of a safety advisor in an organization. The Certificate IV caters for Occupational Health and Safety Advisors in enterprises that have a dedicated OHS role, and for OHS consultants.
Course Content
This course aims to give students:
- A working knowledge of the current OHS Act, its regulations, Codes of Practice and advisory standards;
- An understanding of the skills required to recognise, evaluate and manage health and safety hazards in the workplace and the consequences of exposure.
- An understanding of the skills required for administering various occupational health and safety functions, planning, policy development and ethics.
Course Modules
The Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety BSB41407 requires ten (10) modules of competency for the qualification to be awarded.

The candidate will be required to complete various theory and practical assessments. Please note, the candidate will be required to complete some research and assessment tasks in their own time.
Assessment
For each unit there is an assessment component. All assessment components require a reasonable amount of time studying, implementing processes and developing portfolios of evidence.
Certificates will not be issued until all assessment tasks are complete and deemed competent.
