Cert III Occupational Health & Safety
This qualification reflects the role of skilled operators who apply a broad range of competencies in varied work contexts, using some discretion and judgement and relevant theoretical knowledge. They may provide technical advice and support to a team. This qualification is for people whose main job is not dedicated to OHS but who take it on as a voluntary duty.
Job roles and titles vary across different industry sectors. Possible job titles relevant to this qualification include:
• Health and Safety Assistant
• Health and Safety Committee Member
• Health and Safety Representative.

This qualification is made up of 12 Units of Competency.

• BSBOHS303A – Contribute to OHS Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment

• BSBOHS305A – Contribute to OHS issue resolution
• BSBOHS306A – Contribute to Implementing Emergency Prevention Activities & Response Procedures.
• BSBOHS307A – Participate in OHS investigations
• BSBCMN302A – Organise Personal Work Priorities and Development
• BSBCMN305A – Organise Workplace Information
• BSBWRT301A– Write Simple Documents
• BSBINM314A – Utilise a Management System
• BSBCMN313A – Maintain Environmental Procedures
Prerequisites
Be sufficiently fluent in the use of the English language for communication and assessment purposes. Wear closed in shoes when attending the LaMon training venue.
Delivery
Day Classes
– Week 1 - 2 days in class (9am – 2pm)
– Week 2 – working at home on assignments
– Week 3 - 2 days in class (9am – 2pm)
Combination of External & In Class Training
Allowing a flexible approach for those that would like a degree of classroom training. The candidate will be required to complete various theory and practical assessments. Please note, the candidate will be required to complete some research and assessment tasks in their own time.
Assessment will take place using a combination of strategies that will include simulated and workplace activities, project work, self-paced and group-based work. You will build throughout the training: a comprehensive portfolio will be the basis of the final assessment.
Certificates will not be issued until all assessment tasks are complete and deemed competent.
