This qualification reflects the role of individuals who coordinate and maintain the OHS program within an organisation.  Individuals would possess a sound theoretical knowledge base and use a range of specialised, technical or managerial competencies to plan, carry out and evaluate their own work and the work of others with safety responsibilities.

Job roles and titles vary across different industry sectors.  Possible job titles relevant to this qualification include:

  • OHS Manager
  • OHS Practitioner
  • Senior OHS Officer

 

Course Prerequisties

  • Cert IV Occupational Health and Safety
  • Must be or have worked in a role which coordinates and maintains the OHS program within an organisation
  • Must be Computer Literate

 

Course Modules

The Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety BSB51307 requires eight (8) modules of competency for the qualification to be awarded.

 

BSBOHS502B  Participate in the management of the OHS information and data systems

BSBOHS503B  Assist in the design and development of OHS participative arrangements

BSBOHS504B  Apply principles of OHS risk management

BSBOHS505B  Manage hazards in the work environment

BSBOHS506B  Monitor and facilitate the management of hazards associated with plant

BSBOHS507B  Facilitate the application of principles of occupational health to control OHS risk

BSBOHS508B  Participate in the investigation of incidents

BSBOHS509A  Facilitate continuous improvement

Allowing a flexible approach for those that would like a degree of classroom training

The candidate will be required to complete various theory and practical assessments.  Please note, the candidate will be required to complete some research and assessment tasks in their own time.

 

Assessment

For each unit there is an assessment component.  All assessment components require a reasonable amount of time studying, implementing processes and developing portfolios of evidence.

Certificates will not be issued until all assessment tasks are complete and deemed competent.

Course Start Dates

To secure your training position it is requested that you book prior to your chosen date, a 25% deposit is required to secure your placement.   Diploma Training is also available through external training.  Customised one to one and accelerated programmes can also be arranged to suit fly in fly out, shift workers and the like.  Please contact us to discuss your timetable.
